The Center for Community Journalism and Development (CCJD) actively works with various local and international advocacy and solidarity networks on media development, journalists’ safety, good governance and human rights promotion. Its affiliations reflect the CCJD’s commitment to help foster a more engaged kind of journalism to bring about meaningful social change and development.
Southeast Asia News Safety Network (SEANet)
The Southeast Asia News Safety Network (SEANet) was formed on December 8, 2006 during the Southeast Asia Media and Disaster Risk Management: A Regional News Safety Conference and Training for Frontline Journalists in Bali, Indonesia. Access to Information Network (ATIN)
ATIN is a loose network of media and civil society organizations pushing for better access to public information. Its advocacy work focuses on (1) building greater public awareness and capacity on the right to information; (2) the drafting of a bill on access to official information; and, (3) developing mechanisms to facilitate access to information. It also coordinates and exchanges information with international FOI groups like Article 19, IFEX, Open Society Institute Justice Initiative, etc.
Freedom Fund for Filipino Journalists (FFFJ)
The FFFJ was organized to address the numerous attacks against journalists and news organizations around the country. It is made up of media NGOs and concerned individuals. The FFFJ represents a national effort to protect journalists in crisis and works in coordination with international groups, providing them with information on the cases in the Philippines which they follow up and take up as cases for special advocacy. Its founding members are: Center for Community Journalism and Development (CCJD), Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility (CMFR), Kapisanan ng mga Brodkasters ng Pilipinas (KBP), Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ), Philippine Press Institute (PPI), and Philippine News.
Forum on Democratic Options (FDO)
The FDO is a consortium of institutions and individuals working for the continuing exchange of ideas and information for the enlightened protection and preservation of democratic ideals and institutions. It promotes the continuing exchange of information and ideas between and among sectors, institutions and individuals who believe in protecting and preserving democracy; it encourages greater citizen participation through dialogues and better access to, and utilization of, reliable and quality information; and, it unifies, integrates, and broadens various initiatives to mobilize efforts at effecting and strengthening democratic institutions, structures and mechanisms for citizen interaction.
Participatory Urban Fora (PUF)
A multi-sector platform for information sharing, discussion, consultation and coordination among national government agencies, legislature, local governments, civil society organizations, the media, private sector groups and international development partners on urban governance issues. It also served as the launching pad of the Global Campaign for Good Urban Governance and Secure Tenure.
Journalists’ Network on Urban Governance
Informal grouping of Philippine and South East Asian journalists and organizations formed in 2002 as a vehicle for information and ideas exchange among media practitioners on governance issues and good governance practices in the region. It is working in partnership with The Urban Governance Initiative (TUGI) a regional UNDP governance program based in Kuala Lumpur.
