Publications

One of the major thrusts of the CCJD is the continuing development of “knowledge” tools and products like books, guides, manuals, and field guides to help reporters, editors and media development workers enhance their reporting. These publications are available at the offices of the CCJD and requests for copies can be made in writing to the Executive Director.

Reporters Notebook Reporter’s Notebook and Safety Guide
Published by the International News Safety Institute (INSI) Southeast Asia Office and the Center for Community Journalism and Development (CCJD), the Reporter’s Notebook and Safety Guide serves as a constant reminder to journalists in the region that hostile and dangerous environments can never be safe but reporting them can be made safer. Many of the safety guidelines in this notebook were drawn from the handbooks and manuals of the following organizations and press associations like the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), International News Safety Institute (INSI), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Freedom Fund for Filipino Journalists (FFFJ), Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), Reporters Without Borders (RSF), Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ), Center for Community Journalism and Development (CCJD), and other local resources.

connectingwithcommunitiesCONNECTING WITH COMMUNITIES A pioneering publication on how initial experiments on public journalism in the Philippines have challenged the community press to evolve new thinking about the craft. These experiments promote the idea that information provided by media and journalists should encourage citizens to find solutions facing local communities. The book has a companion 12-minute video showcasing different public journalism initiatives. Check it out.
