WASH Media Award competition now open for entries
Journalists highlighting the important issue of water, sanitation and hygiene are now being rewarded in the 3rd WASH Media Award competition. The award recognizes the important role of journalists in raising awareness on these crucial issues to make an impact on world politics and improve the lives of millions of people around the world. The competition is now open for entries. Deadline for nominations is April 1.
The WASH Media Award competition welcomes entries from journalists around the world publishing or broadcasting original investigative reports on water supply, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) issues in their countries. Journalists can submit one piece of work; an article from a traditional print or recognized online newspaper, magazine or journal, a radio broadcast or a television documentary.
Seven prizes will be awarded: One in each of the five competition languages (English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian) for developing country journalists, one for the best entry focusing on gender perspectives and one for the best entry from a developed country journalist. Entries must be submitted before April 1.The winners will receive a cash prize and an invitation to attend the World Water Week in Stockholm in September 5-12 2010 during which the award ceremony will take place.
